The path from US131 9.17 to the 8’s

FuelTech, Nitrous Outlet, and Performance Trends allowed Paul’s High Performance to safely tune the stock 7.3L to 1,000 ft-lb and 950 HP. This was enough to power the 3,340 lb Cobra Jet to 8.91 @ 150 mph.

Drag Racing Analyzer Pro (from Performance Trends) allowed us to overlay the FT600 data file from the Martin 9.17 run with the vehicle model.  Then we could correlate:  tire growth, converter slip, and body aero drag coefficient and predict how much more power was required to go in the 8’s while keeping engine rpm below 7,000.

Nitrous Outlet 2 stage dry system was installed to reach the required power.   1st kit raises stall of the tight torque converter and then 2nd kit woke up the 7.3 Godzilla to “Beast Mode”.

FuelTech FT600 then accurately controlled the 2 Kits of Nitrous.  Nitrous for each stage was turned on at the proper time and engine speed.  Closed-loop AFR was flat at 11.5:1 during the run.   Plus the FuelTech FT600 was used for data acquisition.  Nitrous bottle pressure, driveshaft, and shock position were time aligned into 1 file with engine and gyroscope parameters.
